Carcass - Auckland (Oct 15th 2008)

CARCASS recently completed its first North American tour since first reuniting early this year.

In a recent interview with Voices From The Darkside, guitarist Bill Steer was asked if there is a possibility of a "real" CARCASS tour taking place later on if the current reunion shows go well. "It's a possibility," he replied. "But to be honest, I have serious doubts that this will really happen. There are many reasons for that, especially on the practical side. We all have our own lives, our own bands, and all kinds of things which we have to take care of. This playing at festivals is already a very big step for me. We can still have a look at all that once we have done all these festivals. I think that after those gigs, everybody will probably like to have some time off anyway. In the beginning of our career, we played so many gigs. We're not going to plan such a hectic tour schedule like we had in the past, that would ruin everything. We're going to have a look at everything and then we'll see. Somebody already proposed a tour of two weeks through the States to us. Something like that is somehow realistic."

Asked if he thinks there is a chance that a new CARCASS album will be recorded at some point, Steer said, "I would be very surprised if that would really happen. But never say never, I'm always the last one who needs to be convinced. Michael [Amott, guitar] and Jeff [Walker, bass/vocals] are much more busy with those things than I am. I'm also not very much involved in the planning of all the festivals which are scheduled. At this moment, I barely know in which countries we're all going to play (laughs)."

Behemoth - At The Left Hand Ov God

Labels: , , ,

This album is epic as fuck and doesn't relent in brutality. It is simply amazing. The song structures are varied but maintain a constant theme. I found this to be a lot better than Demigod in production quality of various aspects in that every single word of the album was not overlaid which adds to the effect. Overlaying is supposed to be used for emphasis which it was in this album. It also has a clearer sound than on Demigod.

This album contains music that spans metal from epic masterpieces such as "At the Left Hand ov God" and "Inner Sanctum" all the way to thrash-like songs such as "Prometherion" and "Kriegsphilosophie".

This album is about the rejection of beliefs which is an excellent theme. It draws the audience in by giving a sense of rebellion to them which is in human nature and then it pummels them with insane riffing and blast beats that leave them only wanting more.

The album opens up with a female vocalization and then slams head-on into a few epic chords that set you up to be pulverized by "Slaying the Prophets of Isa". It goes down through the tracks and slowly draws more and more toward and epic and less thrash-like mood and then cuts out with the same female vocalization as before to tie the entire masterpiece together into one epic album.

Behemoth has outdone themselves with "The Apostasy". I only hope they can keep this up for their next album. Your Ad Here

Hey everybody, Alex from Cannibal here checking in from Mana Studios in St. Petersburg Florida. Paul has finished all the drums tracks for our new album, and we think he did an amazing job. Things really went smoothly with the drum tracking this time, and that gave us a little extra time for Paul to get creative with some of the drum parts. Everything is still fast and brutal as you'd expect, but there are a few different rhythmic ideas happening that we think our fans will appreciate.

The next step for us will be to start working on a guitar sound, and then begin guitar tracking. The sound of the rhythm guitar is one of the most important things on a metal album, so we will take our time and make sure that we get the heaviest sound possible. The recording of the rhythm guitars will be something we'll take our time with as well. Rob, Pat and producer Erik Rutan are truly perfectionists when it comes to guitar tracking, they'll settle for nothing less than a flawless performance. That kind of dedication can make for a challenging recording session, but when the end result is a crushingly heavy album it's more than worth the time and effort.

Behemoth - Chant for Eschaton 2000

Labels: , , , ,

Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band. They are considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground[citation needed], alongside bands such as Vader, Decapitated, Vesania and Hate.

Until the late 1990s, the band played traditional black metal with heathen lyrical content, but soon changed to that of occult and thelemic themes written by their lead vocalist Nergal and Krzysztof Azarewicz. With the 1999 release of Satanica, the band showed their presence in the blackened death metal scene, while retaining their own signature style characterized by the drum work of Inferno, multi-layered vocals and Nile-style Middle-Eastern influences. Even though Behemoth has been labeled as death metal, black metal or thrash influenced, Nergal has mentioned that he doesn't like the band to be labeled Your Ad Here

Immortal - Live in Corona (2000)

Labels: , , ,

Immortal's early years go as far when they started as a black/death metal band Old Funeral in 1988, releasing two demos until 1990. The band's frontman Abbath also formed a band Amputation, in 1989, releasing two demos also, until deciding to form Immortal. [1] The band consisted of band members who departed from Amputation and Old Funeral, though remaining members of Old Funeral attempted to keep the band alive, though eventually dissolved before Immortal's first demo releases.

Immortal's early full-length releases were of a traditional black metal style, but their acclaimed album At the Heart of Winter saw the band begin to experiment with a complex fusion of black metal and German thrash metal. The resulting sound was a style which characterized Immortal's later works. Immortal has been influential to many modern metal artists. It has arguably maintained the most occult-mysticism image and way of life traditionally credited to black metal although the band is not Satanic, unlike several black metal bands who may leave it open to discussion or admit to being Satanic. Deicide - Desecration

According to an Earache Records press release, U.K. music TV channel Scuzz TV has "banned" DEICIDE's video for the song "Homage for Satan", condemning it for being offensive and derogatory.

In a statement, a Scuzz representative allegedly declared that "the lyrical content is religiously offensive, derogatory, and can be read as improper exploitation of any susceptibilities of the audience."

They further commented, "With regards the imagery itself, the inclusion of a priest or religious figure in any belief system is always a very touchy subject, but the possession of one such person, and the disparaging respect for the Christian Bible is in direct conflict with Ofcom regulations."

Earache Records commented in a statement, "The video, featuring blood-splattered zombies on a rampaging mission to capture a priest forcibly underlies DEICIDE's explicit stance against religion, yet is a representation of death metal at its best. The banning of the video coincides with the eagerly anticipated release of DEICIDE's highly acclaimed album, 'The Stench of Redemption', and effectively removes the chance for extreme music to be represented to a mass audience [in the U.K.] The outright banning of the video marks a worrying trend, as the station declares that they 'generally don't play death/black metal on Scuzz anymore' yet boldly label themselves as a 'rock hard' channel." Directed by Tod Junker, produced by Ramzi Abed, along with the visual image filtering of Joachim Luetke, the clip is the third video made in support of the band's latest album, "In Sorte Diaboli". It is also included on the band's upcoming 2DVD+CD release "The Invaluable Darkness", which is due on October 10 (Europe) and October 14 (North America) via Nuclear Blast.

Due to a recent addition to his family, DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Galder (real name: Thomas Rune Andersen) will not be able to join his bandmates on the Blackest Of The Black tour alongside headliners DANZIG.

States DIMMU guitarist Silenoz (real name: Sven Atle Kopperud): "We have some new, temporary personnel on this tour. We needed an experienced live guitarist and found him in an old friend of mine and Galder: Cyrus of SUSPERIA. We're happy he can step in and don't plan on giving him a hard time on the road."

Drumming duties on the Blackest Of The Black tour will be handled by drummer Dariusz "Daray" Brzozowski (ex-VADER). According to Silenoz, fans can perhaps expect a few surprises when it comes to the setlist. Your Ad Here
